Patty was fabulous. She took time to find out what kinds of things I like to photograph, and those were the areas she took me too. She had great tips and hints to make my photos better. I also liked that after I took a photo, she would look at it with me and explain what she saw. And then she helped me to take it again to make it even better. I loved the instant feedback / assistance. This was a great activity and I would do it again if we ever get back there!
Coming into this-we expected the host to have a professional camera to use and speak to during the walk. The description stated to come prepared to learn some photography techniques along with the visiting unique parts of St. Augustine (the hidden gems). We were very interested in learning about St. Augustine and taking some beautiful pictures of our family with a professional camera - but didn’t we didn’t get that from this experience. Quite honestly, we felt this experience was over priced.
Patricia frames this experience as expertly as her photo images. She tailors the class to each person’s ability and equipment (great with iPhone as well as professional gear). She made our 17-year-old daughter feel special by showing interest in her and taking time to tell her how this experience would help her career interest (interior design). Patricia is reputable in photography and researched in her St Augustine history, but delivers it all humbly and with sweetness, wanting to stay connected as friends and photography advisor long after your two hours are done.
The photography walkabout with Patricia was great. Ours was a morning tour with generally harsh light that can occasionally make for uninteresting pictures. Patricia, though had a number of great suggestions on how to use shadows to make interesting pictures of the historic buildings in St Augustine. The background information on the city's history put our tour in great perspective.
