Saint Augustine Photo Tours

A New Way to Tour. The Same Way of Seeing.

For years, I guided travelers through the streets of Saint Augustine, helping them slow down, see differently, and create more intentional photographs.

Now, those experiences live on in a new form.

The same routes, lessons, and locations I developed in person are now available as beautifully designed self-guided photography tours—complete with maps, visual prompts, and the method I’ve used and taught for decades.

Whether you’ve toured with me before or are just discovering this work, welcome. This is where you begin to photograph with purpose.

The Premium Travelers Photography System

A growing collection of self-guided tours and visual learning tools—reimagined for today’s traveler.

The Intentional Image Method trains you to think before you shoot—learning how light, composition, subject, and settings work together so your photographs aren’t just visually strong, but personally meaningful and rooted in a deeper sense of place.

These self-guided tours aren’t just about where to go—they’re about how to see.

That’s the step you’re invited to take now.

How the Guides Work

Each guide is a beautifully designed, full-color PDF—mapped, walked, and photographed personally by Patricia Bean.

Every route is shaped through on-the-ground research, local insight, and the rhythm of light at specific times of day.

At each stop, you’ll find a visual starting point—based on Patricia’s original work in that location—showing what she saw, how she framed it, and why it mattered in the moment. These aren’t just directions—they’re creative prompts rooted in real experience.

It’s designed for people who love to photograph—but sense there’s more to be found in what they see, and want their images to begin reflecting that.

The guide includes direct links to an interactive Google Map, so you can move through the route at your own pace. And while the stops are unique to each city, the lessons stay with you—giving you a method you can apply to any destination, anywhere you travel.

Self-Guided Photography Tours

Rather than simply telling you where to go, each self-guided tour is a carefully designed visual learning experience —using real locations to show you how to see and photograph with amazing results.

Each location functions as a lesson.

You’ll see:

  • Why a scene works visually — and how composition, light, and structure shape the image

  • What to notice and what to simplify — so your photographs feel intentional, not cluttered

  • How an image is designed — using framing, perspective, and visual flow

  • Which tools or settings support what you envision — without overthinking the camera

  • How historical context informs the image — offering insight into why a location looks the way it does and enriching the choices you make as you compose

Testimonials

Reflections from a recent participant in the Self-Guided Morning Light Photography Tour.

How do I begin sharing my reflections on Patricia’s tour? Simply stated? Ahhh-maaaaz-ing! Admittedly, I’m not the best at following maps. Like really not. I have no training in professional photography, but truly wanted to learn skills for taking better photos of beautiful places.

From the start, Patricia’s tour directions were conversational, as one could “hear” an instructional, helpful, supportive voice throughout the morning. It is like having a private walking tour guide along side as a friend. (A really smart friend, who is a master at history and architectural photography).

I observed and photographed details I would have never even noticed prior to the course, and found myself learning to look up, really scan and take-in everything around me. (It has made a lasting impact of how I walk down a street, even today.)

My photos greatly improved, as I read her hints about where to stand and how to lean into specific spots for better image captures. I found myself smiling, as my photos looked better than any I had taken previously. Surprisingly, the map is so easy to follow. Yes, even for me. In fact, navigating the course is fail-proof. I will say it again - the map and the tour are fail-proof. Seamlessly, I was able to go from outstanding photo tips, to walking the town via the map assist, to deeper dives into local history and the incredible significance of specific buildings and monuments through historic St. Augustine. I unequivocally recommend Patricia Bean Photography Morning Light Tour. You will be amazed. Guaranteed.

I truly appreciated this photography experience for capturing Saint Augustine in the morning light. This is, without a doubt, the most thoughtfully designed photo “tour” guide I’ve ever experienced—even as a self-guided format.

The map, historical context, background notes, technical guidance, and creative tools are exceptionally well done and adaptable to any location, not just this tour. In my decade of photography, I’ve struggled to clearly articulate how to compose a shot.

Patricia’s concept—Intentional Image Method—brilliantly brings those elements together in a way I’ve never encountered before, even though I’ve been using many of them instinctively.

I find myself returning to the guide again and again. An entire course built around this method would be something I’d love to take.

Photo Tour Guest

Instead of taking an “I was there” photo, Patricia shared great insights on how to capture the mystery in a location.  I’ve been a lifelong photographer, but she showed how the slightest adjustments in camera placement can really make a difference.

I had the delightful surprise of being signed up for Patricia Beans’ Saint Augustine photo tour. It turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. Not only did I learn a wealth of knowledge about the city of Saint Augustine, but I also gained valuable insights into photography, particularly using my iPhone. Through this tour, I discovered the art of capturing moments with my own eyes and framing them effectively within the confines of my phone.

Patricia's Photo Tour was a great way to learn more about my iPhone settings and capabilities. Over a relaxing cup of coffee, she shared her experiences as a photographer, as well as helpful tools on the iPhone. I was able to put them immediately to use as we walked through the historical neighborhoods of St. Augustine. Patricia is very personable, helpful and has a wealth of knowledge about the history of the city. It was a fun and energizing experience, and most importantly it reminded me to always be more mindful of my surroundings, and how to identify more photo opportunities that could easily be missed. Thank you Patricia! I highly recommend this tour!
